Traffic on Jalan Jatinegara Barat and DI Panjaitan Diverted

The worst traffic jam is spotted on Jalan DI Panjaitan as there was a meeting of vehicles from Kalimalang and Tanjung Priok

Flooding has occurred in parts of Jakarta on as a result of heavy rain in the early hours of Tuesday morning. This condition has paralyzed traffic on several major streets and disrupted a number of public transportation services.

As a result, traffic from Jalan Jatinegara Barat Raya and Jalan DI Panjaitan, Jatinegara or precisely right at the Kalimalang intersection had to be diverted.

At Jalan Jatinegara Barat, vehicles coming from Kampung Melayu towards Matraman are rerouted to traffic light in front of Santa Maria. They are diverted to Jalan Jatinegara Barat I and to Jala Jatinegara Timur until Jalan Raya Matraman with contra flow. Then from Koinonia Church intersection, vehicle is directed back to the normal lane on Jalan Raya Matraman.

While from Jalan DI Panjaitan, vehicles coming from Kalimalang or Tanjung Priok towards Cililitan or Cawang are rerouted to Jalan DI Panjaitan and Jalan Otista Raya. Besides that, they pass by contra flow, starting from the Kalimalang intersection to the front of the Wika U-turn.

It is because the condition of Jalan DI Panjaitan, precisely under the Halim Lama Bridge or in front of Hotel 678 was flooded up to 80 centimeters high.

East Jakarta Traffic Unit Chief AKBP Suhli said traffic engineering at Jalan Jatinegara Barat has been applied since 6.30 AM, following flooding up to 40 centimeters high. His side also has sent 20 officers to manage traffic in the field.

"The worst traffic jam is spotted on Jalan DI Panjaitan as there was a meeting of vehicles from Kalimalang and Tanjung Priok," he expressed, Tuesday (2/25).

As for the information, the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency has also sent as many as 20 officers to help manage traffic.
